Privacy Policy

About this policy

Terra is operated by Harsh Sharma, an individual developer. References to “we”, “us” and “our” in this policy mean Harsh Sharma. For privacy questions, email terra.travelguide@gmail.com.

This policy explains what data Terra collects, how it is used and how you can request access or deletion.

Terra does not request precise device location, show ads or use advertising SDKs. We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers or data brokers.

If you use Terra without an account

Without an account, your saved collection, profile and preferences are stored on your device rather than in a cloud account. Basic feature-use events and diagnostics may still be sent to Firebase and Mapbox. Deleting the app removes the device copy; it does not by itself delete service analytics or diagnostic records.

If you sign in

Google Firebase Authentication stores your sign-in email. If you use Sign in with Apple and hide your email, Terra receives Apple's relay address.

When you sign in, Google Cloud Firestore stores your visited and bucket-list countries, cities and places; saved guides, foods and phrases; foods you have tried; and phrase learning choices. It also stores the profile and preferences you enter, including your name, home city, languages and dietary selections. Changes sync when a connection is available. A separate copy for each account remains on your device after sign-out, including changes waiting to sync, and is restored when you return to that account.

Other users cannot access your account data. Terra's operator can access stored data for support, debugging or legal reasons; we do not otherwise review your saved collection.

Firebase Authentication also processes IP addresses and user agents transiently for security (kept a few weeks per Google's Firebase privacy documentation).

Crash reports and usage statistics

Terra uses Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports: a stack trace, your device model and OS version, and a random installation identifier. Crash reports are not linked to your email or account. Crashlytics keeps crash data for 90 days before beginning removal from its live and backup systems.

Terra uses Firebase Analytics for screen views, time spent on visible screens, catalog items opened or saved, search result counts, session activity, sync outcomes and basic performance timings. Events may include device/OS information and approximate region. They use an app installation identifier and, while signed in, your Firebase account ID so activity can be understood across sessions and devices. We do not put your name, email, home city, dietary choices, free-text notes or search text in analytics events. Clearing the current analytics identity at sign-out does not remove earlier events.

Maps

The map is rendered by Mapbox. To operate and bill the service, the Mapbox SDK collects map usage events, a random session identifier, and your IP address. Mapbox normally deletes IP addresses after 30 days, but may retain them longer for security, fraud or legal investigations. Terra never requests device location permission; service providers may infer an approximate region from network information. You can opt out of Mapbox telemetry via the info button on the map's attribution.

Service providers

Terra uses these services:

App security

Terra uses Firebase App Check with Apple App Attest to verify that requests come from a valid app and device. Verification data is sent to Apple and Firebase, and verification tokens accompany requests to supported Firebase services. Firebase does not retain the verification material; the tokens are valid for a limited time.

Deleting your account and data

Open Profile > Account > Delete account. You need an internet connection and may be asked to sign in again. Successful deletion removes your current and older synced records, sign-in and that account's saved data on this device. If deletion fails, some data may already have been removed; you can retry. Signing out keeps your account and its saved data.

Deleted collection, profile and preference records can remain in cloud recovery history and backups for up to seven days. Firebase Authentication removes deleted sign-in data from its live and backup systems within 180 days. Account deletion does not automatically erase all historical analytics or diagnostic records. For help with data access or deletion, email terra.travelguide@gmail.com.

Your rights

You can ask for access, correction or deletion of your data at terra.travelguide@gmail.com. Signed-in account data includes the profile, preferences and travel collection described above. Usage and diagnostic records may also exist when you use Terra without an account.

If you are in California: the personal information we collect is identifiers (your sign-in email and account id, if you create an account), diagnostics (crash data), usage data (app interaction statistics), and, only if you sign in, the synced collection, profile and preferences described above. If you never sign in, that last category never reaches us. It is shared only with the service providers named above. We do not sell personal information. Terra does not respond to Do Not Track browser signals because we do no cross-site tracking to turn off. We will post changes to this policy on this page (see below).

If you are in the European Union or United Kingdom: the legal basis for holding your email address, and for syncing your collection, profile and preferences if you sign in, is performing the service you asked for (signing in and keeping your marks with your account). For crash data and usage statistics it is our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and making it better. You have the rights of access, correction, deletion, and portability via the email above, and the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Terra is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change what data Terra collects or how it is used, we will update this page, change the date at the top, and note material changes in the app's release notes before they take effect.
